A sample of the study was composed of 221 students from Irkutsk State University. Significant positive correlations between the innovative potential, the innovative activity of the individual and the scales of methods for identifying the adaptation of freshmen at the university were established by the means of the correlation analysis. 67 % of respondents have a higher level of manifestation of innovativeness than average and they successfully adapt to the conditions of the university. 33 % of students demonstrate low results, that is, for them the process of adaptation at the University is still in development.
