Abstract

In this article we present the results of study of the fathering characteristics of Russian men in early and middle adulthood with different masculinity orientation. We hypothesize that fathering characteristics of men in early and middle adulthood with different masculinity orientation are different. So, we studied fathering characteristics of 127 participant fathers. The average age of the fathers was twenty nine years old. The average age of the (first) child was eight years old. The statistic analysis of the data let us distinguish two groups of fathers. The first group called optimal was formed by fathers who demonstrated responsible fathering and androgyny or medium masculinity. The second group fathers were uninvolved fathers who did not demonstrate responsible fathering but demonstrated femininity or the high level of masculinity.
