The paper presents the results of the study of mental representations of student youth of one of Moscow universities (a sample of 358 respondents). 2796 association-responses have been handled, they were related to the concept of «psychological aid», «a psychologist», as well as to the most important qualities a person providing psychological assistance should have. When analyzing responses unconditionally positive, neutral, and negatively evaluative representations were identified. The method of trans-symbolic analysis was used to handle the data. The results obtained are supposed to identify opportunities to change the attitude of young people to this phenomenon and efficiently integrate them into the system of providing psychological support.
