Peculiarities of coping behavior of a woman during a three year child-care leave are considered. Theoretical underpinning of defining the period discussed as a discrete one having crisis nature and being more particular about woman’s personal and social resources is presented. Timeliness of the study of mother’s coping strategies is predetermined by an opportunity to find appropriate strategies to solve critical situations, to lessen unfavorable influence of negative factors on the family welfare generally and on mother’s mental health in particular. The results of empirical research of basic coping strategies implemented by mothers when coping with life difficulties, exquisite (difficult) situations related to rearing young children (aged from 1 to 3 years) are considered. The results are estimated by the degree the basic coping strategies are marked in general structure of coping behavior.
