Abstract
Psychologically significant professionally important qualities of a law enforcement official are considered, they are autonomy, internal locus of control, capacity to modify one’s behavior on the basis of coping strategy. The results of the empirical research of the level of development of the above mentioned qualities of the senior cadets of the Internal Affairs Ministry Institute are given. The results analysis shows that overall internality, autonomy and self-actualization need are at a low level with most of the cadets. The author comes to a conclusion that the most likely reason for underdeveloped qualities of intending law enforcement officials under study is authoritative methods of teaching and educational process, which is peculiar to paramilitary institutes. The probability of building educational process at Internal Affairs Ministry institutes on the basis of person-centered approach is analyzed within the framework of academic discussion.
