Parent Image of Minors Held in Pretrial Dentention Facilities

Abstract
The article presents the results of the study of parent image of minors held in a pretrial detention facility. It compares the image with that of children not violating law. The study has revealed the difference between these groups of adolescents. Minors held in a pretrial detention facility view both parents as directive and aggressive; they feel themselves excluded from their families, and admit having problems with parent-child relationships. Adolescents held in a pretrial detention facility frequently mention alcohol use by their parents, view themselves as bad children causing their parents problems. The results obtained show the necessity to form a positive parent image and one’s own role in a family, to restore parent-child relationships for effective re-adaptation of juvenile offenders.
