Abstract
Occupational orientation determines the profession choice, preconditions academic and professional activity, and is of interdisciplinary nature being at the confluence of psychology, pedagogy, and medicine. Conceptualization of this notion is needed for its developing in medical students during their study. Different approaches to understanding the concept of occupational orientation by Russian authors have been analyzed. Its typification, as well as factors and conditions for its developing have been presented. Foreign authors study particular phenomena contributing to students’ actualization in medical academic and professional activities and put greater emphasis to them. Difference in approaches though does not allow for data conceptualization. The issue of occupational orientation of medical students and its structure requires specific examination taking into account international expertize.
