Expectations for the Future of People Who Had COVID-19

Author(s)
O. P. Tsaritsentseva
Abstract

The article presents the results of the comparative analysis of expectations for the future of people who had COVID-19 and people without confirmed diagnosis. The study was carried out with the help of semantic differential of time by L. I. Vasserman, E. A Trifonova, K. R. Chervinskaya. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to verify the accuracy of differences between the groups. The study results showed that all respondents had positive expectations for the future. Average measures of expectations for a particular time period, however, were lower according to the factors (amount of time, structure of time, sense of time) in the group of people without confirmed diagnosis. Semantic universals revealed during the study also had a number of significant differences. The respondents who had COVID-19 viewed their future as “solid”, “profound”, “rhythmic”, while the respondents without confirmed diagnosis thought it to be “particular” and “relaxed”.
