Various approaches to the issue of geronologicalageism are considered. Peculiarities of geronological ageism manifestations as discriminating against individuals of late adulthood on the basis of their age are emphasized. Methodological approaches to ageism based on two tendencies are analyzed. In the former ageism extends to all age group representatives, i.e. to everybody who age discrimination focuses on the latter demonstrates ageism as something that relates to the elderly constituting the group and having negative characteristics from the point of view of public opinion. Instances of gerontological ageism manifestation are discussed. Correlation of ageism manifestation towards the elderly and adaptive and productive type of ageing process is theoretically substantiated. These types are identified on the basis of personal attributes of the elderly and are a defining component in gerontological ageism study.
