Hierarchy of Components of Student Youth Identity

Author(s)
K. N. Pavlova
Abstract
Changing models of identity formation, due to the transition from traditional values to more flexible and dynamic ones, causes the increasing interest of modern psychology in the study of student youth identity. The study implements a constructivist approach to identity as a multidimensional system consisting of core and peripheral elements. The core of students' identity is made up of family-role and professional components. It is well established that students attach more importance to their immediate social environment than to their civic, ethnic and regional affiliations. This can be explained by insufficient formation of emotional-value and behavioral components of civic identity, as well as negative social trends that weaken ethnic and regional identity
