Requirements for Education Psychologists Dealing with Minors when Carrying out Investigative Acts: Burnout and Secondary Traumatization Prevention

Abstract

The paper presents the results of the theoretical analysis of counseling support to minor victims. The importance of elaboration and standardization of the investigative procedures involving minors has been highlighted. Main requirements for an education psychologist engaged in investigative acts have been considered with regard to a competence approach, as well as most effective algorithms and procedures of interrogation of underage victims. On the basis of the approaches analyzed a list of basic requirements for the competences of an education psychologist providing support to an underaged child involved in investigative acts has been suggested. The list can be used in professional selecting of specialists. The authors have come to a conclusion that specialist’s effective performance during investigative acts is ensured by taking measures for burnout and secondary traumatization prevention.
