Abstract

Regarding the question of correlation between theoretical and practical psychology discussed in the psychological academic community factors putting it on a modern footing have been considered (ideas of postmodernism in psychology, developing a post-non-classical ideal of scientific knowledge, underestimation of fundamental psychological research, modernization of the system of training scientists). Taking the activity of psychologists during 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War as an example the author showed efficiency of methodological principle of cohesion of theory, experiment and practice (works on color camouflage, rehabilitation of mental functions after battle wounds). The author came to a conclusion that focus on the history of the Russian psychology is an important prerequisite to determine perspectives for developing psychology and solving problematic issues of its methodology.
