The article describes formation of new institutionalized subject fields, based on the developmental systems approach. The process consists in differentiation of population of ancestral forms, which generates new forms of communication and is provided by their development. A formal description of differentiation is illustrated by significant events of the XVIth-XVIIth centuries in formation of a new institutionalized subject field such as science and by the role of communication in that evolutionary process.
