Psychological Factors Affecting the Safety of Air Flight Control: Theoretical Analysis of Scientific Concepts

Author(s)
A. A. Mitrofanova
Abstract

The paper presents the results of an analytical overview of scientific understanding of psychological factors having impact of effectiveness and reliability of air flight control. The author analyzed scientific definitions of the term “human factor”, and scholars’ viewpoints on the correlation of “personal factor” and “human factor” constructs. The author has come to the conclusion that the term “personal factor”, which includes interrelated with each other psychological, psychophysiological and psychosocial factors affecting the safety of flight and air accidents, seems to be more reasonable in the context of the current research. The results of studies examining elements of a personal factor individually and their relation to reliability of air flight control by professionals have been given.
