Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze classical and modern theories of motivation terms of their relevance to increase motivation of a project team viewed as a holistic social organism. Motivational principles used to create and develop a project team are fundamentally different from those used for organizations with a rigid hierarchical structure. Successful leaders of projects have been demonstrated to shift motivating team members from a final outcome to a collaborative process making them more involved in the project, making project’s goal become their own. To achieve it they use the system of perspective goal-setting, as well as certain incentive strategies focusing on self-motivation of team members.
