Aspects of Variation of Adolescents’ Virtual Self-Presentation

Abstract

The definition of variation of adolescents’ virtual self-presentation is given. Some components of virtual self-presentation variation are identified. They are visual variation, verbal variation, and variation of self-presentation behavior depending on the audience. Leading motives of variation of adolescents’ virtual self-presentation are described, they are strive for self-realization, novelty seeking. While growing up the influence of motives of self-esteem and social approval need becomes stronger. Basic differences in the level of visual self-presentation variation on the Internet are due to sexual identity. Age, personal self-conception, and emotional stability determine verbal self-presentation variation. A combination of age, cognitive and personal peculiarities determine variation of self-presentation behavior depending on the audience.
