Pedagogical Interaction Styles and Their Psychological Background

Abstract

Pedagogical interaction styles are considered in the paper. Criteria enabling to identify a communication style are analyzed. The description of psychological nature underlying a certain style is given. The role of pedagogical styles on personal development and education is shown. Specific character of the effect that pedagogical interaction style has on learning experience and students’ personal growth is described. The analysis of the survey involving teachers in Eastern Siberia is presented. Psycho-diagnostic techniques with reasonable certainty identifying teacher’s pedagogical style are given account of. Composition (in percent) of teachers belonging to different pedagogical styles is given. The correlation between teacher’s length of work experience and his or her pedagogical interaction style is revealed.
